And this is why I hate sales.

On August 16th, LV, YHWH just celebrated three years in business, and here's what I learned...
I hate sales.
Did I mention that I really don't like sales? Don't get me wrong, as a customer I love finding a good deal and sticking it to the man, whoever that is. But as a business owner, I realized that the game is rigged. The idea behind a sale in most cases is to make sure that the sale price is really the lowest price you can charge and remain somewhat profitable. Many times it's the price that a company expects to ultimately sell the product for and if they actually get "regular price", it's like a bonus for them. And so the game of raising and lowering the price in order to lure customers into thinking they got a steal is not good.
And then there's the other side. I've lowered prices so low during some sales where I have actually lost money on the transaction. And we are not alone here because there is so much competition to try to stay relevant in the sea of commerce that companies are willing to cut off their own air supply to try to stay afloat for one more day. And that's how roughly 22% of new businesses fail after the first year. Praise God that we have made it to year three! And while we are not profitable, yet, here's what I learned about how LV, YHWH will do business going forward.
No. More. Sales.
Yup. You read that right. Instead of offering sales for every holiday and flooding your email with color coordinated holiday cheer, we are simply going to offer our best fair price for the products we sell.
Everyday best pricing. That's the idea.
We don't get our clothing from somewhere with cheap labor. Our clothes are printed on demand right here in the USA. We partner with a manufacturer that prints our designs and ships them out... at a decent fee of course. I use them because I am a full time pastor and this is a ministry that the Lord gave me in 2022 to help believers share their faith visually by design in order to occasionally do so verbally by faith. Our manufacturing partnership allows me to not worry about printing and shipping so I can focus on other aspects of the business. They charge us a fee for shipping of which we absorb about 60% of so that the cost is not fully transferred over to you. When it all pans out, not factoring in all the other costs of running the company, we have structured the pricing so that we will make an average of about $4-$6 per garment sold-- for tees, crewnecks, and hoodies. So what does that come out to?
Tees start at $19 and will ship for about $1.50 - $2.00
Crewnecks start at $29 and ship for about $3.50-$4.50
Hoodies start at $35 and ship for about $4.50 - $5.50
Average shipping, even with 2 or more items will be about $5-$6 and shipping is free over $100
I've also worked hard to communicate the purpose and feel of the brand more throughout the website. Product pages do a better job of telling customers about the design and some of the key features. Products are grouped much better and I believe will make for a cleaner shopping experience. You will easily be able to see the design in a tee, sweatshirt, or hoodie as you navigate the all merchandise page.
There will be times where a new item is featured or we will have a limited time offering for certain looks and you'll see an email highlighting a certain design. But I never felt right doing a sale on Christmas, for example. I already don't like the commercialism of the holiday and I didn't like riding in on that to make a few bucks. I believe the prices are fair and I stand behind the quality. One of the joys I have is to see people wearing something they bought two years ago and it still looks great! I love that our apparel is among our customer's favorites in their wardrobes.
So you don't have to guess and you don't have to wait. When you see something you like, that's the price it's going to be. It may not be what most companies do, but that is how I feel led to run LV, YHWH. Open. Honest. Transparent. Consistent. I hope that matters to you and I look forward to seeing how your next purchase opens a door for you to share your faith. That's the only reason this company exists in the first place.
Love,
LV, YHWH
