CHSN. FRGVN. YHWH: The 2-Second Gospel Behind Our Designs

You only have two to three seconds before it gets weird.

That's the maximum amount of time that someone will look in your direction before things get uncomfortable. This is a psychological fact, something that all of us live by, but most people don't notice because, why would they?

CHSN (Chosen) and FRGVN (Forgiven) were first two images that the Lord gave me. The whole concept stemmed from this truth. How can an image say what it needs to say in the time it has to say it? And how can I buy maybe another half second or so to make someone pause and think?

That is the design philosophy of LV, YHWH. These two designs are inspired by the Tetragrammaton, YHWH. In Hebrew there are no vowels. The vowels are assumed in the pronunciation and the same came be done to English words. Our minds fill in the blanks. This is what people do on license plates and many companies have adopted this principle in their designs. It's not new.

What is new, especially for Christian brands, is the idea of scaling down the busyness that is often found in tee shirt design. Sometimes there is just too much going on in one design to take in all of it, and certainly not in 2-3 seconds.

So what if the design could always be unique? Catchy. Visually interesting in some way, to make the mind have to hold that glance to figure out what it's looking at, but not so different that it can't be understood. It's like an easy level visual riddle that looks appealing with an even more powerful messages embedded inside. That's our goal.

Now sometimes we just get straight to the point like our "Jesus is Enough" design. But even then the question still remains, enough for what? Of course the answer is "For everything."

So I wanted to get back to our roots. I haven't pushed these two in a while but they are packed with the gospel, especially FRGVN.

Revisit the site and you'll see what I'm talking about with most of our designs. I have a few new ones ready to drop for summer too, so keep looking out.

From God. Through you. To everyone.

LV, YHWH
