Still Only One Road

If you ever just so happened to be in a mood to to start an argument, not saying that you should, but if you were, all you have say is that you believe Jesus is the only way to heaven. This one statement will shut down a family dinner party faster than talks about abortion, gun control, January 6th, or George Floyd combined. You can line up all the most controversial statements in a row and I would take "No one comes to the Father but through Me" as the one that is guaranteed to bend people out of shape. But why?
Because human beings like options. We are creatures who are addicted to choice. John, chapter fourteen, verse six denies us the ability to deny Him and still get in. You see for human beings, many gods are ok. One God? Not so much.
And working ourselves into heaven? Also great. "Sign me up", most will say. But being saved by grace through faith because of what He did and therefore HE gets all the glory?!?! We don't like that. We don't like that one bit. In fact, people kinda hate that part of Christianity. And if you don't believe me, just have a dinner party and see.
So why on earth would I decide to make a t-shirt about it? Because it is designed in a way to invite the question, "What does your shirt mean?" Your response could be, "It makes an important point about something the Bible says about Jesus, have you ever really looked into Him before?"
Then the person may say a little about what they know (or think they know), and then you can ask them, "If Jesus really is who the Bible says He is, what do you think that would mean for you right now?" Then after their response, with love and gentleness you can tell them that Jesus has made a way for all sinners, including you and them, to have a relationship with God through faith. By turning away from the things we know which are offensive to God, and believing in Christ and following Him, we can have eternal life.
And we can tell them the meaning of John 14:6, "Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
Suppose you had even one conversation like this? Would that be meaningful to you? This is the purpose for this design, and every other design for that matter, to wear our faith in a way that invites dialogue. But even when it doesn't, we still want you to look cool and make a powerful statement for Jesus, even from a distance.
And remember, as a mentor once told me, "God loves you and there's not a thing you can do about it!"
From God. Through you. To everyone.
Love,
LV, YHWH
